MEA & Meridian School District begin Interest-Based Bargaining Process

This year, the MEA and the Meridian School District will begin using the IBB (Interest Based Bargaining) Process using a 3rd party facilitator trained by the FMCS (Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service).
17 MEA members lobbied their legislators February 16th as part of IEA’s Grassroots Lobbying program. The goal of the group was to learn from their conversations with legislators and share an educator’s perspective on the proposal to cut education funding by nearly 13%.
MEA members attending the monthly B Team meeting on Monday, February 8th were pleasantly surprised to find over 100 tantalizing desserts awaiting them. But they soon found that satisfying their sweet tooth would come with a price.

Nearly 40 education support staff from Meridian and Boise gathered Saturday, January 23, 2010 for an all day training led by Jorge Rivera, NEA Staff. The training focused on defining what constituted a Living Wage in Idaho, initial steps to building a Living Wage campaign and the importance of building relationships in this effort.
