I joined the MEA because I needed help getting my payroll issues straightened out as well as to have that extra security the MEA provides us. Being an MEA member has helped . . . I no longer have payroll issues! Plus, I’ve met a lot of great people at the meetings and learned a lot that I did not know before. I’m glad the MEA is for all employees and . . . I choose to pay my dues for really one big reason. I know I can depend on support if anything should arise from my various duties. I am often the nurse when she is out. This leaves me with many jobs for which I have never been trained. I am required to give prescription medication, cleanse and bandage cuts and abrasions not to mention dealing with the occasional broken bones. Knowing that I have added support and don’t have to stand alone is always comforting.
